Learning About Counselling
You may have heard many people talk about counselling, and if you have never been to a Counsellor before you might be wondering what goes on in that office.
Basically, counselling involves talking. You choose to talk about an area of your life, feelings you may have, what you are thinking, experiences you have had and ways you want to change etc.
What you say in counselling is highly confidential, although there are some limits to confidentiality such as if you disclose you want to hurt yourself or others. It is important that you feel comfortable with your Counsellor. This is probably the most essential ingredient in a successful counselling outcome because when you trust your Counsellor you are creating a space to grow and explore.
